Welcome to my online portfolio. My hope is that someone may leave this site knowing a little more about who I am and what I stand for.
I was born and raised in the small Northern Georgia city named Adairsville. It was there, where I went through Adairsville Elementary, Middle, and High school and it's where I found my love for music.
My beginnings with music started at home, listening to my dad pick southern guitar, and hearing my mom and dad sing country or gospel songs, on a weekend night. From there, with my new piqued interest, I began teaching myself piano. To this day, I'm no pedigogical pianist, but I will forever be grateful for those humble beginnings, as I look back.
In school, I always enjoyed general music class. It was something that I was familiar with and liked doing. As I transitioned into middle school, I had no plans for any extra curricular activities, but then my story took an odd turn. I found myself in a gym full of sweaty kids and being asked to change in a crowded, renovation-worthy locker room. The thought of taking gym class, at that time in my life, was so scary that I came home, that night, and asked my mama to write a note, asking for a class change. The next day marked the first day of the rest of my life.
"I think Mr. Holmes is one of the best, if not the best student teachers I’ve ever had. I know I could easily say that and it be a empty complement, but I mean it. He is encouraging, inspirational, and a wonderful example of a amazing musician, conductor, and teacher. He doesn’t just go to school every day to do what he needs to, he does more. He builds foundations with his students and is very
personable. He has made this semester better for me.
Any kid would very lucky to have him."
"What do I think about Mr. Holmes? Well, he is a very nice guy, very helping and takes our opinions into consideration. Each time I walked into the band room he was their, I would say," morning Mr Holmes" and he would respond," Good Morning Mr. Miller!" He's a great teacher telling us things to help us get better and asks us what could help him teach us better. He is very brilliant, very patient, and a great trombone player. In conclusion I think Mr. Holmes is the best student teacher I have ever had."
“Mr. Holmes is an amazing, outgoing person. Whenever I need to talk to someone, I feel comfortable knowing he would be there for me. There also times where we share jokes and can be more than just a “ student- teacher” relationship! What I mean by that is Mr. Holmes doesn’t just teach, but he connect with others like me by getting to know us better and wanting to help us. Nevertheless , he is one to always count on and will always show that he is there to make us want to succeed in our everyday life.“
"Mr. Holmes passion for teaching and educating is shown through his immense kindness and wit. He is relatable to students while still maintaining a professional manner. It has been a pleasure having him as a student teacher this season."
"I think that Mr. Holmes is an overall great person. He takes his students feelings and thoughts into consideration in the classroom. Mr. Holmes always guides us in the right path for us to succeed. He always makes sure that we are respectful and accountable for our actions."
"Meeting Mr. Holmes and being able to intern with him has been one of the highlights of my Senior year. He is an extremely talented musician and conductor, along with being an incredible person. His ability to make you smile as well as inspire is one of the many pleasures that my peers and I have when he teaches us."
